The adult weight of a puppy can be estimated using the formula:
Adult Weight = (Puppy Weight / Puppy Age in Weeks) × 52
The result is an approximate adult weight, and the actual weight may vary by ±10%.
Use the form above to input your puppy's age and weight, and the calculator will estimate the adult weight and its range.
Our dog weight predictor uses the following formula to calculate your puppy's adult weight:
Adult Weight = (Puppy Weight / Puppy Age in Weeks) × 52
Why 52?The number 52 represents the weeks in a year. We use this value in our predictor because, on average, dogs mature into adults within 12 months. This range varies from 8 months for smaller breeds to around 16 months for larger breeds. By multiplying the puppy's current weight by 52 and dividing it by its age in weeks, we can estimate its weight at exactly one year old.
Smaller dogs tend to have longer lifespans. For every 4.4 pounds (2 kg) increase in body weight, a dog's lifespan decreases by about 1 month. Thus, our dog weight predictor can also serve as a tool to estimate your dog's potential longevity.
Using our dog weight predictor is simple and straightforward. All you need to do is enter your puppy's current weight and age in weeks. Our calculator will process these details to estimate your puppy's adult weight. The results will be displayed as a range due to various factors that may influence your dog's growth and final size.
Your dog's height primarily depends on its breed. However, you can estimate its maximum possible height from paws to shoulders using the following guidelines based on our dog weight chart:
The tallest dog ever recorded was a Great Dane named Zeus, who measured an unbelievable 44 inches (111.8 cm) from paw to shoulder!
